It can be especially hard for women or for others who traditionally are not viewed as being at the center of business life in a country. It can even be harder for young people in Gaza where communities have been marginalized and denied access to opportunities.
We often run into old attitudes that say: some people, because of what they look like or where they come from, don't have what it takes to lead or create a business. Sometimes it’s subtle - the pitch may not be received with as much enthusiasm as someone else pitching the same idea.
